Welcome to my new blog covering the wonderful world of chili, and due to the lack of chili in the summer here in Minneapolis I’m also covering really anything else I find worthy of my time and yours.
Regardless if it is breakfast, lunch or dinner I will order a cup of chili at any restaurant to check it out. I have had what I consider to be excellent chili and some that is just plain terrible.
What I have noticed is there are a lot of varieties, thickness, kinds of meat, vegetables, beans, etc. Some like their chili with cheese, sour cream, onions, crackers or a number of other add-ons.
I will be mentioning the particular restaurant and rating on overall taste, spice level – variety of spices, heat level, what I call “IT Factor”…something unique people bring to the table, and value.
Ratings will be 1-10 chili peppers (when I am able to use a computer instead of my iPad)
I will be tasting most chili plain, without add-ons, unless they come with it standard.
I am based out of Minnesota so most reviews will be in this area. Lots of places take chili off the menu in the summer too so I might have to branch out!
My top 5 as of now
- Revival
- Manny’s
- Wolfy’s Butcher Shop (now out of business unfortunately)
- Big Guys BBQ
- Loon Cafe – Pinto’s Diablo
